【歩くのは目的地の近くが良い Walk after arrival】

職場から空港に女房を迎えに行くことになった。
ちょっとばかり時間があるので歩こうと思う。

職場の周辺にはちょうど歩くのに良い公園がある。
でも、僕は先に空港にいってから、その周辺を歩いた。

というのは、途中の道が混むかもしれないから。
公園を歩いてから出発して、途中が混んで遅刻したら本末転倒。

でも、先に出発しておいて、余裕があれば空港で歩く。
それなら道が混んでいてもOK。
ギリギリで空港についても、歩くのを省略すればそれで良い。

結論：歩くなら、出発前より、到着後の方が良い。

My wife told me to pick her up at the airport.
Because I have a plenty of time, I'll take a walk before picking.

There is a nice park close to my work place.
However, I walked around the airport after I arrived there.

For, I was concerned about a traffic jam.
If I walk at the park and am late at the airport because of traffic jam, it will cause a serious mistake.

If I start earlier, I will have much time to walk around the airport.
In that case, a traffic jam is acceptable.
Even if I arrived at the airport on time, I would just give up walking.
That's it.

Conclusion: You had better walk after arrival rather than before starting.
